Well, well, well, for those of you that have been hiding under a rock, MAD had another LAN on the weekend. And if you weren’t there then you need to take a long hard look in the mirror before giving yourself an uppercut. Anyway, was quite successful with the regular turn up + a few new faces and a few old old old faces that I haven’t seen in about 6 years. Frogbert and Rachiie made the epic journey from Rockfailton I mean Rockhampton to see how an awesome LAN runs. Although lunch was a bit of a cock up. As usual admin’s were there bright and early for set up and as usual I was late
but none the less was still a fantastic LAN.
There was the usual banter of games begin played COD4, COD4 and COD 4 as well as the ever boring Supreme commander which I started watching until I started to nod off 5mins into it at which point I was witness to some questionable High Definition DvD’s :P. War3 had a little bit of air time unfortunately for me vista wasn’t playing ball, and the new stalker game Stalker: “ I shot you at point blank with 2 barrels from a sawn off shot gun and you still won’t die” Clear Skys. We also blew the cobwebs off (shudder) Counter-strike where I demonstrated to Dudefella the fine art of strafing AK headshots.
Overall was one of the best LANS I have had the pleasure of attending, Frogbert’s stand up comedy routine was amazing you just can’t pay for that type of entertainment these days. I think I socialized more then I gammed but still one of the better ones. I would like to thank Camo and Josh, without these 2 LAN’s wouldn’t of happened (Well wouldn’t of started on time :P) Thanks to those that helped pack up and not doing the BOLT *Cough*. Thanks to Frogbert and Rachiie for making the trip, and the usuals for showing up Sarge, Eryx, Andy, Dudefella etc people is what keeps LANS going.

Anyway I think I’ve prattled on enough, so see you all next time.

Quite an amazing LAN I must say, a good amount of ROLLCAGE, much to my delight and I presume Clint’s also seeing as though he is a veteran of the PSX original like me. LatchLAN somehow managed to force us all into playing trackmania for at least 100 years and we all realised that playing 2 games of DOTA everyday for over 1000 hours makes you ridiculously good (SHOTGUN BEN’S TEAM NEXT TIME) even if you have the turn your head because your playing on a 42″ TV. I realised that etherlords 2 is less complex than “Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos - Joey the Passion” (YOU FELL FOR MY TRAP CARD! hohoho).
Enjoy the blurry photo of me, Camo presumably urinating on the powerpoint and Josh showing off a photo of his father, also why were all the photos taken within 5 minutes of MAD opening?
Incase you are wondering, yes, Scott did just get out of prison.
Oh the lulz, a 2 hour lunch run, a room of angry people yearning for foods, me camwhoring and not bothering to focus half the photos (thanks CQGL for the photoography tips), kids eating 3/4 of a kilo of my sherbert straws (ie pixie sticks), a hall covered in network cables and generic trojans ruining some kids attempt to leech off me (pssst I was actually dropping him, while I was on another pc AND when I was on the lunch run
I am such the haxz0r)
I get home and drop my monitor on my fpga, now there is a big mark in the middle of my LCD
you served me well you, but you time has come to be replaced.
All in all a pretty good lan, I didn’t get there till about 6pm but I got enough Robot Arena 2 and Toblo in to last me much to the displeasure of Brendan who was unable to defeat Sean’s hulking mass of spinning metal “I don’t need wheels I’ve got circular saws with Battle-Axes attached”
Jon learnt that RTS’s are only fun when playing hungry hippos or simulating the free market, while the rest of us learnt that the ability to play RTS is genetic.
The Photos from yesterday and this morning at the LAN have been uploaded here for anyone that wants a look
As the dust settles from the MAD-gamers lans, the dust begin from the neculear explosion caused by my Supreme Commander ….
Overall was a good lan had around 20 gamers show up for the day and from all accounts had a good time.
You could hear the mushing sounds of Ssam’s and the crys of pain as the awp bullets penertrated his head for the 40th time of the day in Counte-Strie Source and gun game, the neuclear explosions of supreme command, the rivalry of Warcraft3, the building of the great “wall of win” in Source Forts and the many other games that were played during the day.
The always funny KFC run and the look on the cahiers face as Dean puts through a awsomly large order and the all so famouse pizza run.
Thanks to all the admin Titan, Camo, Dean for the help and effort they put in for the day as well as Eryx, Marc and Deniis. And a special big thank you to Deniis and Dean for the cable crimpage.
I don’t think there’s anything left to say other then NEXT LAN IS TBA so stay tuned.
